Welcome to Fort McPherson!
Fort McPherson (Gwich'in: Teetl'it Zheh, at the head of the waters) is a hamlet located in the Inuvik Region of the Northwest Territories, Canada. It is located on the east bank of the Peel River and is 186km south of Inuvik on the Dempster Highway and is 1227km north of Whitehorse, Yukon via the Klondike and Dempster Highways. Fort McPherson is located between the M.V. Louis Cardinal Mackenzie River Ferry and the M.V. Abraham Francis Peel River Ferry. There is no cost for ferry crossings. Fort McPherson is accessible by scheduled flights during freeze-up and break-up and ice roads during the winter months.
